I have an 07 MCS that seems to pull much harder than other MCS's I've driven. Does anyone know how to tell which 07's squeeked in with the euro tune? Is there a build date? Thanks!

 

I have no idea about the build dates or if some came with a "Euro tune" but my early '07 MCS always felt stronger than most Gen 2 MCS's to me and my build began on 3/9/07. I wasn't thrilled when I learned that the dealer reflashed the ECU as a part of the changing of the timing chain tensioners to address the "death rattle" 2 months ago. Maybe it's my imagination but I think it ran stronger before the reflash. I will be interested to hear if other owners with early build '07 MCS cars also feel they run stronger than most 2nd gen cars.

 

BMW detuned the MCS after '07 because it was too close to the JCW for their liking. Word is actual HP and torque numbers the '07s put out were higher than what they were rated. I had an '07 MCS and traded it for a '10, and driving the new one off the lot I thought they forgot to put the turbo in it. The RMW tune got all that back and then some; but still, that wasn't too nice of the braintrust over there in Germany.

kukaepe, it wasn't your imagination ... yours most likely did run stronger before the reflash. And you wouldn't be the first one that's happened to.
