Crack in my MCSCM's Windshield (currently under Warranty)

I'd appreciate any comments and help.

I own a 2009 MCSCM currently under warranty and have a rock chip in my windshield.

A rick chip is as big as a dime in terms of shape and size and it looks like a "bullseye" type of chips. But you can't really feel it when you rub over it from both outside and inside.

My questions are:

- Can my warranty cover it to get a whole windshield replaced?

- Without comprehensive coverage with my GEICO, will they cover it ?

- Should I do any temporarily repair until I can get it replaced before it gets worse?

Thanks in advance!

The warranty generally won't cover rock chips. Depending on what state you live in and your insurance company, your insurance may cover windshield repair with no deductible (and based on your description of the damage, it sounds easily repairable.)

No - not a construction flaw, you got hit by a rock

- I don't carry a Collision coverage with my auto insurance but an Uninsured Motorist Property Damage coverage. Will it work?

I doubt it, but you could ask. Glass usually comes under comprehensive or a sep' glass rider

- Any temporarily solutions until I can get it replaced?

A glass repair/replacement company can shoot in a glue that will stop the crack from spreading. SAFELITE will come to your place to do it or you can buy a DIY kit.

Try to repair it first. Replacement involves some risk for the quality of work done on the seals and A pillars. I've had excellent results with this kit:https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...neguy-diy.html

Best place to start is by calling your insurance company.

Do not bother getting it repaired at the dealer.

Use an independent windshield repair/replace company if you are going to pay for this out of your pocket. They will have much more experience doing this than your dealer.

I had a crack develop in my windshield a few months ago. My insurance covered it. I went with Safelite. The tech did a great job. He came pout to my house and was gone in less than 1 hour.
