R56 what grade oil to use in colder weather
what grade oil to use in colder weather
Ok,I'm a fanatic about changing oil at about 3-4000 mi. Have'nt had any issues with carbon build-up etc. and also use Techron Plus about every 3000 or so.So,my question is does anyone use a thinner oil in winter? And if so what grade. There are some varying opinions out there on this.I have an '07 MCS, w/ 47,000
Ditto on what Scott said, sort of. My concern would be startup in cold temps. Zero or less. You might go to a 0W-30 or 40. Opereating temps are pretty close weather it is hot or cold out. The slightly thinner stuff would circulate faster when cold.
As said above, the 5W is pretty thin, so even if I were in the colder climates I would stick to the girl I came to the dance with.
YMMV
