thermostat housing/computer removal - reprogram?
thermostat housing/computer removal - reprogram?
My '05 Cooper has a coolant escapage problem (again). It appears to be coming from the area of the thermostat housing (again).
Heres the (potential) problem: in order to confirm and/or repair, a number of things have to be removed, including what looks to be a computer or module. If I disconnect-to-remove this computer (or module), will any reprogramming have to be done when its reinstalled, or is it kind of just plug (back in) and play? The answer to this question will determine where it goes to have the leak repaired.

If you're talking about the ECU under the hood (oriented vertically, about the size of a paperback book with two harnesses coming out of it), then it can be removed and replaced without having to reset or reprogram anything.
