You need a car, but you hate to drive (Rich Girl's Edition)
You have $400,000 to spend on a car (well you have more than that, but that's the general ball park these two cars cost), which one do you buy to get driven around in?
Maybach 62 -v- Rolls-Royce Phantom

Maybach 62 -v- Rolls-Royce Phantom

I'd take the Rolls. God Save the Queen.
Seriously, though, the Maybach looks too much like a Hyundai. When you see a Rolls Royce, you know what you're looking at. The Maybach might have some things going for it, but it's not a Rolls.

Although i would be embarrassed to be driven around in either, the Rolls is more recognizable by the poor folks I want to impress, so I'd pick the Phantom. . .
Definitely the Rolls. The Maybach is just a butt ugly car, no matter how prestigious it is. Countrym is right - it looks like a $400,000 Hyundai.
And that two-tone gray paint is HORRIBLE. I'd take an S8 over either of them, and give the other 300 grand to a worthy cause.

Rolls here, but rolling on spinners yo.
IMO, the 'bach is just too large to drive by yourself (as being a passenger). If I'm gonna spend $400k+, I'm gonna drive it. Now if my butler buys....

Interesting. Any Rolls Royce salesman will tell you that the main difference between a Bentley and Rolls Royce is that a Bentley is a driver's car and a Rolls is a car you are drive in. I've seen a Maybach on the road and it has presence, but between these two I'd rather have the Rolls Royce (with driver of course). With that said, I think both cars are pretty ugly, I don't need anything more than an S55 AMG.

That's hilarious that everyone's calling the Benz a Hyundai. I, for one, think that the newish Hyundais have a startling resemblance to the Bentley...especially from behind.
Oh, and my vote is for the Rolly, but I'm not crazy about the Phantom...unless there's a dude named Geeves driving it.

I'll take the Rolls-Royce anyday over the Maybach. Much classier design. It shouts money and is indefinitely a more individual design on the road. The Maybach looks too much like a S-Class that has become bloated. Additionally it appears to be part sharing on the lower front grille of the Maybach from the S-Class. For a car costing this much everything the eye can see or the hands can touch should provoke a feeling of being bespoke. Unacceptable!
Saw the Maybach at the Chicago Auto Show in 2003 and also one waiting for delivery at my local MINI dealer while in for repairs. Once again I saw more cheap looking plastic parts and huge! panel gaps on the car. The Maybach is for people who are rich and stupid! Just because you are rich it doesn't mean you are intelligent or have refined tastes.
Plus I will only be driven somewhere when there happens to be foul weather and wouldn't want to drive a sports car or am injured (if I was in that position of wealth of course).
OPTION C: Bentley Continental GT and spend the otber quarter-million on a different toy, donate to charity, trust fund, don't spend, etc. The Bentley is beauuuuutiful!
Sorry about the length, its just my $0.02

for everyone that doubts the rolls beauty once you see it in person in a nice color your mind will be changed. IT IS AMAZING. pictures don't do it justice. It dwarfs any other car on the road and the wheels are tremendous.
quick math
Rolls-Royce $320,000?
MINI $24,000 loaded
13 MINIs = one Rolls Royce. and some money to spare.
sales tax on a Rolls Royce in the great state of california?
try $24,000
i'l take an 2004 A8L a few MINIs, a turbo porsche, and a warehouse somewhere to store them
