Miller Mortorsports Utah Sept 10-11
Opening a thread for Miller.
Schedule: http://www.grand-am.com/assets/2010M...icialSched.pdf
We will return with all three cars at Miller
Drivers:
Randy Smalley
Owen Trinkler
Sarah Cattaneo
VJ Mirzayan
BJ Zacharias
Dicky Riegel
We have been on the pole at Miller twice and have run up front on the 'full' course. This year we will run the 'outer loop' course which should be more favorable to the Mini.
We are coming off back to back wins at New Jersey and Trois Rivieres and are shooting for three in a row.
Salt Lake is a really great facility. Come out if you can.

The paddocks are open to the fans but the 'hot pits' are closed. The pits are a bad ploace to watch the race. The outer pit wall is so high, you can't see the track.
Hope to see you there.

Miller prerace
The transporter is enroute to Miller. It left yesterday. All three cars are prepped, dyno'ed and ready to race.
Rumor has it that representatives of MINIUSA will be there, rooting the team onto a 'three-peat'. We will be running the outer loop this year which should be an improvement for the MINI. It makes Miller a momentum track. Some other cars will benefit too so we will see how it goes.
All the action takes place on Saturday. Qualifying is in the morning and we race late in the afternoon after the finish of the Rolex Race. It will be a great day of racing.
Hope to see you there.

Sorry to report that we missed the "three-peat"... We did place second in the 198, getting edged by the 91 APR Volkswagon GTI by a little more than a second. It was a huge battle but in the end, the turbo power of the VW won out.
No complaints about second! The 198 now has 2 wins, a second, and a third this this year. I would speculate that this particular car has the most road racing wins of any Mini in history. It started life as a new '04 Cooper S. It won three consecutive Mini Challenge titles in Arizona before it's conversion to a Grand Am ST racer.
The other two cars finished 13 and 14 after both cars had some bad luck.
More to follow...

Photos from Miller Motorsports
My hat's off to Randy and all of the team. I spent Saturday at the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Tooele, Utah. The team was most gracious, allowing me to take many pictures and get answers to many questions. While the MINI's didn't win, they made a very god showing.
This link should be to my pictures from the garage area and a couple of the track itself. The last one is the # 198 after the second place finish.
There is no description with the pics, I really am not yet up to speed with all this technology.

Thank goodness for DVR!! I just finished watching the race this afternoon! Great job guys! I wish the coverage of the ST was a little better though, one moment 198 was in fifth or sixth and the next thing I know it's in second

I remember the Rabbit cup & Le Car cup. A train of cars all going around the corners with one wheel hiked up in the air like a bunch of puppies peeing.
Randy your MINI is not a puppy it's the big dog.
