R50/53 New Car, some things done
New Car, some things done
Want to take the opportunity to thank NAM and all its members for posting and providing thorough information on installations, diagnostics, etc...
Recently purchased a 04 MCS, the car was in decent shape with 55k on the odometer.
The info I learned from reading the forums helped me diagnose some issues/negotiation points, but most importantly method of repair.
Just finished doing the following, needless to say it was a long weekend:
1) Power flex bushings
- Lower Engine
- Tranny
- small Upper Engine
- Lower Control Arms
2) IE Fixed Strut Plates & Craven Sttrut Defenders
- repaired slight mushrooming using the sandwich method
Note: Its a lot easier to replace the Strut top plates without the lower control arms in place, it allows the strut to travel further down allowing for more clearance to easily remove the top mount. Don't forget to use a small jack placed under the strut to control the decent of the strut itself. Also don't forget to compress the spring before you disconnect anything holding the strut in place.
Thanks again NAM

Very nice list!
We just bought an 03 MCS and have spent almost every day doing something to it. It is so much fun working with my Wife on things though. And seeing her eyes light up as we get something done is that much better.
Keep going!
