Hi, I'm moving up north pretty soon and have a question about the nose scoop for an S. When it snows or ice's, does anybody have a problem with build up in the nose vents?

 

I've had a MCS for a couple winters now with no problem. However, if you try blasting through some tall snowbanks, you might have a problem....

 

If you happen to drive any distance in winter fog when it's below freezing...



...you can get rime icing on the mirror caps that would make any 737 pilot proud.

In this instance after a two-hour drive to the Twin Cities, the Aero Kit grill work was almost iced closed but still allowing some air to flow.

Edit: With winter tires on, the MINI stayed in full control and laughed as it passed abandoned cars in the roadside ditches

 

You will be fine. I have never had a problem and I am pretty sure the hood scoop on an R56 is non functional. It is just there for looks.

Throw on a set of winter tires and you have yourself a 4 wheel snow tank!!!!

 

And just think of all that nice cool air coming in!

 

thanks. I think I've got my answer. Now all that's left is to learn how to drive in snow.

 

My hood scoop is fully functional. I've read some posts in which they said that earlier hood scoops weren't functional and they had problems with them melting. Later ones had some holes in them, my 2010, has all the holes open, from the factory. It is right above the turbocharger, I don't think there is an ice problem there in the winter.
