2003 mini cooper exhaust upgrade

i have a 2003 mini cooper i believe it's the R50 and it want to upgrade the exhaust but I'm interested in upgrading the exhaust system something similar to what's on the mini s, so i was wondering if any one has done something like this and could give me some feed back and how it went when they did it

Why do you want to upgrade the exhaust?

For looks, sound, tailpipe location, save weight, power?

You won't get much power. Magnaflow, Borla, Helix,Milltek all make good exhausts. Megan Racing is cheap at $380

Moving the side tailpipe to the middle isn't the most useful thing to do. The R50 spare tire is in the way and the lower rear bumper valence will need to be removed and replaced by the Cooper S valence or replace the full rear bumper is OK too. Mostly for looks.

You would not want to add a full double exhaust for the Cooper S as this is the wrong exhaust for normally aspirated Cooper Engine plus it weighs more. You could do a one ball Cooper S exhaust but that is still heavy and not sure if the back pressure is any good for your engine.

For R50 there is not much you can do for power that is easy. ECU is already pretty good, intake change or exhaust doesn't do much. Headers nill except for sound.

You can do suspension upgrades or brake pad upgrades like any MINI. And you can get lighter wheels and grippy tires and that helps more.

DO an intake before an exhaust. You will be happier with the gain from an intake, trust me

Plus there is a rear sway bar for the handling. That was my first mod this time.
