2002 MCS Engine Accessory Belt

Looking at the procedure to replace the belt in the Bentley Manual. How important are:

Special Tool (11 8 410) to release belt tension
Special Tool (11 8 470) to lock belt tensioner

Can I do it with standard tools or will I be stuck without those?

Thanks

ok, well never mind. Further research indicates I really do need the tensioner tool.
