So, I'm getting a noise coming from the clutch when I depress it (2002 Cooper) that sounds like a squishing noise. Can anyone confirm/deny if this is normal? One person I ran across said that it was a throwout bearing problem, he had it, and they almost had to replace the transmission. Just looking for some more comparison.

I'm booked to go to the dealer in a couple of weeks anyway, but thought I'd try to get some ammunition (if it's justified) before I go in.

Thanks,
Steve

Could be wrong, but, normally a bad throwout bearing will makes noise until you press the clutch pedal....but I've never heard of one make a "squishing" sound. Sounds like that lean more towards the hydraulic system.

I would have figured hydraulic system too, but I'm not losing any fluid (as I understand, the clutch also uses the brake fluid?...might be wrong?)
