Where to hide my wiring mess...

If you've seen some of my older threads, you know I have a small carPC with a 7" touchscreen and it's all powered by cigarette lighter adapters. Well, this obviously creates quite a jumble of plugs and wires, and looking at it today I was trying to figure out where best to hide it all.

Last year I had the 3-way cigarette adapter velcro'ed up high against the center console in the passenger footwell. This worked pretty well, but did occasionally get bumped by passengers so while I'm redoing the wiring with a bigger gauge, I figured I'd see if anyone has any ideas where I can hide it.

The main piece I need to hide is about 6 x 6 x 1.5 when it's all plugged together and I never really need to touch it unless something goes wrong, and even then I have hardwired switches for resetting the carPC and one for killing the 12V feed completely. I haven't done a lot of dash disassembly but have gone as far as removing the secret compartment (that's where the PC is mounted).

I've thought about just running longer wires and hiding it under the passenger seat, since there isn't anything else under there....

Any other ideas?

Grahame

I'm move of a visual person. Do you have a pic or a link to what you are trying to hide? I have tons of wires hidden under the carpet from my head unit and speakers install.

Pull the front passenger carpet away from the firewall right behind the cabin filter box and put it al under there. In my installation I have 4 -4 port usb hubs and other wiring under there. I did have to remove a little bit of the foam that is stuck to the back of the carpet to make it go back and look okay

I'll try to get a pic of the stuff I'm talking about, right right now the splitter and some monitor adapter are in the house, and the PC adapter is in the car (because running the wire down from the secret compartment was a pain and I didn't want to remove it).

Eric, is there a recess of some type there? If you have 4 x usb hubs there, it must be a pretty good space...

No recess but the foam on the back of the carpet is about 2-1/2 inches thick so if you were to cut some of that out it would make a reversed recess so to speak.
