Thinking of powdercoating factory wheels - OPINIONS please
I've found a local powercoating shop that will do this for a pretty good price, with clearcoat for added durability. I'm thinking of flat black. With the clearcoat it will give a semi-dull finish. Here's a photoshop mockup of what the results would be (of course I'd do all 4).
What do you think?

with your white top and mirrors, I don't think it would go well. I'd say stick with what you have. You could always just stop cleaning your front brakes and get the same effect in front.
If you had Black top and mirrors the glossy black would be a nice match.

I would do them dark silver if anything.I have black painted wheels on my pickup and it looks a little too nascar for me.But it's just a winter beater.

Thanks for the input. A little to NASCAR
Just looking for a little different look than stock without going through the expense of buying sub-17 lb wheels. I'll check with doing dark silver, or at least see how closely they can match it.

cheap try out....
Don't wash yer wheels for a few weeks. The pad dust will turn them black FREE! Plus there is an added bonus of noting the different available shades to get to black.

Yes, but it's never even. The fronts are always darker than the backs. But a set of ebc greens or mintex pads are shortly going to fix that situation for me.

Vince, I think the powderblack looks good! But what you need to do is paint the brake dealies (like my technical terminology?)!!! Then you'll get some contrast!
Cheers!

I like it, orbhot  . It would set you apart from all stock/aftermarkets with change left in your pocket
. On paper, I would have doubted it coordinating well but it looks good to me in your photo. Powdercoating or not, it's a win-win for you

>>Hey Orbhot,

>>How much would it typically cost to paint your wheels. I am thinking of painting mine dark sivler too if the cost is not too high

I found a local place charging around $30, more if heavy blasting is required, like if it's an old wheel. I've heard of people paying much more though, depends on the area and who you go to. I found this place under Powdercoating in the yellow pages (who woulda thunk it). Wheel dealers will charge you much more because usually they are not the one's doing the work, they send it to a shop that specializes in coatings and then put thier mark up on the work done.

ORBHOT, the silver wheels look better IMO. Have your wheels polished! Paint the top the same as the rest of the car and add chrome rear view mirror covers. Eh sorry, I guess I got a little carried away. Just leave it alone.
