How do I fix a flat-spotted tire?
So I had a pretty good spin at autocross the other day, and unfortunately it left a decent flat-spot in my left-rear tire. The good news is that it's not bad enough to cause undue vibration through the chassis, but the bad news is that it's still loud as hell - sounds like there's a Harley riding next to me as I go down the highway. Any ideas how to get rid of it sooner rather than later without burning a lot of tread off the tire?
You could try a bit of SHOE-GOO to fill in the flat spot....it works for shoes!!
You might be able to find a shop with a tire lathe...they will trim the tread down....making it round again...at the expense of tread life (not that it matters...that tire will wear out first at the flat spot anyway), but at least it will sound better!!....that or a new tire!!

I was actually planning to buy new tires anyway, as I need a more track-worthy tire than I have now. The issue is that I was planning to offset the cost of a new set by selling the old set (since they WERE in very good condition), and now I'm sort of stuck with a defective product. Bah! I blame it on whoever let a BSP-prepped M3 with Hoosiers into STX and thereby caused me to push to hard...
