Front Motor and Transmission Mount

Hello guys,

Well I have to replace the front motor mount on my 06 MCS. It seems to be leaking fluid. I found it for $85 at autopartswarehouse.com.

Does anyone have any suggestions on doing anything different than just replacing it, or if the "Reinz Front Motor and Transmission Mount - Motor Mount" is same as OEM?

Thanks,

Tru

It' a really common failure, and will fail again if you replace with OEM. Make sure you get the one that is for the 06 though, earlier models will not fit (I think it's the 02-03 ones). That photo *looks* like an earlier one, although I am not 100% sure.

Look At the TEXAS speed works site and get their mount . It will not leak and will firm up the engine from rotating when applying gas.

I didn't see where anyone indicates the mileage at which point they find themselves replacing this front motor mount.

I have an 05 MCS with a scant 23000 miles on it, garage kept, and driven mostly by my wife, who is no lead foot by any means. All my drive time in this car is supervised by her as well, so no hanky panky on my part either.

Saw a nice puddle of dirty oil on the garage floor the other day, checked the dipstick, full reading and still as clean as new. Looked a bit further and found the motor mount with a sizeable puddle of dirty oil underneath it.

Is this a common problem, as in, poorly manufactured part. Or could it be a poor design, that would cause this to happen?

I've just started my search on this subject, so I have little to no information from others with a similar problem. I'd like to know first of all, if MINI will handle this problem, either as in repairing it, refunding the cost of repair, etc.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Mine's leaking, too. I'm going to see about getting the TSW motor mount: http://www.waymotorworks.com/tsw-eng...6-r50-r53.html.

The solid rubber mount was suggested to me by my personal mechanic. The only negative advice he gave me was that the ride or vibration might be stiffer. Not too sure what that means or how it would effect the ride.

He did state that the oil filled is less expensive(less then half the $199.00 you posted), but that they will require replacement more often. Not too sure just yet, I suppose I'll stick with the OEM part for now, see how long it lasts, then go from there.

If it blows itself out in 5 years time, then I'll try the solid mount. I do plan to keep this MINI forever, (no joke, my wife wont drive another car). By that time I'll know what really works best (fingers crossed).
