Many people don't believe the dome lights in the 2004 Coopers were Xenon. They are in fact Xenon bulbs. They produce a much whiter light than a standard bulb. They are also marked as such with an X.

The original bulb in ours was made by Philips. It is stamped 12072 Philips 12V 6W X.

Now I know that a replacement is available, but I can't seem to source the original Xenon for the life of me. And I have tried and spoke to several parts managers. I even had them check what they have. Some are charging $20 for a regular bulb that you can get for $.99.

According to my research-
Original Part #63-21-0-395-495
Followed by #63-21-7-160-915 - had a dealer look and it wasn't Xenon

Now they use #63-21-7-160-805 - this is just a regular bulb.

These are the middle dome light bulb. Metal on both ends, about 1.5".

Anyone know where to get the original bulb? I painted mine with a special red paint and it was perfect, much better and brighter than LED. I either need this replacement or a really good LED replacement.

I would just go to autolumination.com. You can get LEDs for much cheaper than whatever the dealer would want for a replacement.

 

 

I have LEDs now....but I did repace the bulb on my 05' s before I switched... Got the bulb from a regular auto place....I could not tell the differance.
If you are worried about white light, just get the led replacement...I got the go mini multi led one...newer single led replacements are avalable now.
