Does a 2 channel amp for the rear speakers on non HiFi make any sense?
Yes, I used search, but nobody asked a question like this (hmmm, wonder if there is a reason...)
I picked up today's Fry's ad, and they have a Clarion APX2181 amp (2009 model, see http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...408778494.html ) on sale for $157 installed (plus any non standard install parts needed).
Staying away from whether they are qualified installers, does in make sense to only amp fronts or rears?
I replaced my speakers when I first got the car (coming up on 17 months ago). I appreciate good sound / music, but I'm not a "go overboard fanatic" either.
I was thinking if I ever had an amp put in, I would go with a four channel amp, but then you still have the 100 db rolloff at the rear speakers. If I only amp the rear, could I have the front speaker signal feed both the front speakers and the amp for the rear speakers? Or would that be really a stupid idea? I know if I run all four speakers (with the help of the amp) off the front speaker output, I lose front to rear fading at the radio, but I rarely adjust this anymore -- so I could just adjust the amp to where I want it for front and back speaker mix, yes?
Comments, thoughts?

Wow, I must be a terrible searcher. So I just read the thread about the Mini Alpine upgrade kit sold overseas. It uses a two channel amp and only amps the fronts leaving the rears as pass through.
So if I do the 2 channel amp on sale, perhaps I should just amp the front speakers and leave the rears as is driven by the head unit.
Thoughts?
