WHAT OIL TO USE IN 1969 MINI 1000E?

FIRST OF ALL, HELLO TO EVERYONE. THIS IS MY FIRST POST. FYI, I'M A BRIT LIVING IN SPAIN. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLS? AFTER 30 YEARS I'VE JUST BOUGHT A 1969 MINI 1000E. I ALWAYS USE 100% SYNTHETIC IN OTHER CARS BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT, DUE TO GEAR AND MOTOR BEING A SINGLE BLOCK IN THIS MODEL, I CAN'T USE SYNTHETIC. IS THIS SO? CAN ANYONE SUGGEST SYNTHETIC OIL FOR THIS MODEL. THKS.

after digging thru a slew of sites:

most references say synth is not recommended, altho you will find folks who use it and swear by it.

The most popular and most recommended however seems to be a good quality 'dino' oil 20W50.

Some also consider an oil that still has ZDDP a requirement depending on when the engine was last rebuilt. Some racing brands & special classic car brands still have ZDDP which in the US anyway was pulled fairly recently (last few years anyway) as being bad for catalytic converters. You can also buy ZDDP as an additive.
