How do I get teth bulb out of a 2002 mini? found the panel and can feel the wires is there a clip or something to release the bulb.

 

Just below the wires, there is a horizontal tab that releases the bulb holder panel from the taillight. Press the tab down. The panel holds all three taillight bulbs, and once it's off you can easily change any of the bulbs. You could unplug the connector first if it helps you to access the tab.
