My wife are considering getting a MC. We are also planning on having a baby soon. However we are concerned that the MC may be too small once the baby arrives. Anybody has the same experience? Does a baby stroller in the boot? and does the baby seat fit in the back seat? Really excited about both!!

Welcome to MCO (NAM)

I've seen discussions and photos of both strollers and baby seats fitting in their respective places. Try the search function (top right corner) for more info/pics.

Hi there, I began the thread that was suggested above. How far in the Planning Stages are you? We are just passing the first Trimester for a May 7 baby, so finding MINI compatible baby gear has been on my list of priorities. Thankfully our MINI's are LATCH equipped, so finding a baby seat that utilizes this in an easy to use fashion is highly desirable.

I would recommend setting up a Travel System where by you have a docking bay that sits in your backseat. Then to place an infant inside, you just snap the infant seat onto the docking bay. To remove, just release it. It's tight in the back, and doesn't leave a lot of room to maneuver back there, so the less time you have to spend, the happier you'll be. Then you can snap the Infant Seat into the stroller!

Now rear facing infant seats are big. You'll find that with one installed behind the front passenger seat, you'll have to scoot the seat way forward and position the seat back as upright as possible. If you drive by yourself with the infant in back, that should be no problem. If you have a front passenger, unless they are pretty short, I'd say less than 5'4", they will be in an awkward seating position.

I plan to be driving by myself, with my infant in back, so I'm not worried about that. We have a larger car we can take if the wife is coming with us.

There are a few strollers that will fit, but I think the best is the Peg Perego Aria GM simply because it's lightweight, folds very compactly in the boot, yet unfolds into a stable and comfortable stroller. Compare it to a flimsy yet compact umbrella stroller and it's a night and day difference. Once I discovered this stroller, I found many other MINI owners were already using this model and were extremely happy and were recommending it to THEIR friends.

Hope that helps!

Richard

Welcome, laherz! Maybe two babies on the way? Congrats! At least the gestation period for MINIs is fewer than 9 months! Let's see, other comparisons?

- Both need their bottoms wiped frequently.
- Neither holds a large cup of soda well.
- Both will have strangers telling you how cute they are.
- Both will take up more of your time than you may think.

God speed.

Ah yes baby in the back of the MINI! Obviously not as easy as getting the baby in and out of a large sedan but not that much more difficult. We have no problems. We have to move the seat forward so our son won't kick the back of the seat. Our son is 17 months old now and loves to ride in the MINI. He can even help in getting in and out now. We got the MC and we are very pleased with the ride quality. Not at all too bumpy for the baby. Kinda of wish I had gotten the S now. Oh well I'll just have to trade it in for a 2005 MCS...

Also we got the rear sunshades and they are working out great. No bright sun gets to our son at all.

I have two babies, a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Both fit comfortably in the back seat. My seat needs to be a little further forward than I like...but oh well. Oddly enough, the only stroller we could find that fit in the boot was a double wide stroller!
I forget the mfg....
