removing factory cd player

Does anybody know how to remove the factory deck? I bought a brand new Alpine MP3 radio and am trying to install it. I have the dash kit, the wire harness, and the radio, but I'm not sure what I need to take apart. I have a 2005 MINI Cooper. Does the radio pull out or do you have to pull the side columns off? The dealership here in VA won't answer the question, they want me to pay over $100 to have them do it.

You have to pull the downtubes.

but it's not that hard. Then there are two torx screws that hold the deck into the stack, and then it will slide out.

I think taking the tubes out is part of documentation of our Ian Cull circuit here.
