One Ball Mod won't work on my mini??!?

I took my 2003 MCS to a shop today yo get the one ball mod done, it was only going to be 40 bucks too. Then he called me and said that it is impossible to do because my exhaust goes from the headers to the center then splits to each resonator and meets together again in the back. It doesn't go center, right, back to the left and out the center. Also, my exhaust tips are black and have like a different look to them than the other ones I have seen on this site. Any ideas on if it is aftermarket or did they have a different model exhaust? I got the car used so I am not sure. I will post a better picture when I get home and get the car.

It sounds like you have either the John Cooper Works (JCW) exhaust, or an aftermarket exhaust. Without a better photo of the tips and exactly what is underneath, it will be very difficult to say what you have.

In either case, you don't need the one ball, so that's saves you the 40 clams! Darn, I guess you'll just have to look for another mod.

Welcome to NAM!

It's a Super Sprint Exhaust and BMP Designs tips -

BMP - DBA: Promini.com ( They stopped selling these tips last year ) Nice Set up Not cheap either. The tips alone were about $300.00 a set.

http://www.bmpdesign.com/home.php

BTW: You also have a set of Alta (?) Adjustable lower rear control arms....was your MINI lowered on a set of springs before ?

What ever brand the lower control arms are, it looks like the left inner lock nut needs to be tightened.

Good spot, Jim. As soon as I saw the picture, I said to myself:"that lock nut is loose and needs to be reset and tightened." LOL
Great minds, and all that...

You probably would have hated yourself if your shop would have hacked up your exhaust and then you figured out what you had. It is one of the most expensive setups available. After doing some research I am starting to think "all exhausts are created equal" when it comes to our cars. The hp gains are low from stock to aftermarket and only 1-2 hp between brands usually. I bought mine based on sound and looks.

Anyway, congrats on buying a great little car and I hope you find lots more goodies.

You sir have a Super Sprint. I can confirm it! Welcome to the SuperSprint club! Your lucky to have it. That exhaust is over $500 a piece...when I say piece I mean the left resonator, the right resonator, the y connecting piece and the tips. The exhaust system is over $1500 new. I have the same exhaust and I love it:

Mind the scratched bumper. It's got the aero kit now.

Can I get some links for the springs if you can? Thanks! And I am proud to be part of the supersprint club now! Thanks a lot! Any information on the performance gains from it? And my tips say "BMP" on them!

Looks like Alta doesnt have their springs on their website anymore, but they sell the original H&R
http://www.altaperformance.com/produ...-for-Cooper-S-

Way motor works has the Alta Springs still though.
