Brake pads and discs change and dealership critic
Hi there!
Today my MINI started making unfamiliar noises while driving and breaking (an metal against metal-ish sound) and i took a look at the breakpads...
I'm no expert but these looks kinda thin.......

For some reason there is a flat-head screw instead of a torx that holds the break-disc in place.. (and i suspect it's gonna be a ***** to loosen it)

And n00b question.. (if it possible to see) do i have to change the discs or can i keep them and just change the pads
Sorry for LOUSY pic quality :P
What shocks me is that i had it serviced (100k km main service) at my local shop 500km ago (1 month) and there was NO mention at all about the breaks...
This makes me want to ban all my loved ones from both driving and walking outside at all..

Often times that retaining bolt will break, so someone must have replaced it with one they had lying around. The straight slot on it will make it very hard to remove.
If you are going with the same type of pads, you could get away with leaving the rotor alone, but I wouldn't. I'd get the rotors off and take them to a brake shop to have them resurfaced so that the new pads can bed themselves quicker.
