Man, at an estimated $39, Large. MINI will have to have a replacement, not a sibling, before my significant other will even let me think about getting one. I've seen my midlife crisis car and so can you right here.

I drove the Lotus Elise on a racetrack in England, August, 1998. I still have dreams about that car. What a hoot! It reacts to steering input better than a MINI, it's 95% race car, 5% street car. No radio, no carpet, no top to speak of (at least in 1998), but give it some twisty asphault or an auto-x course and it's heaven on wheels.

Yeah, I saw that article. I couldn't believe it when the author came out and admitted that the Elise was the best sports car out there in the first paragraph. Sounds like a great car, good power, A+ handling, everything you'd expect.

Of course, the price is supposed to be about $39K, and those of us with back seat passengers might have some complaints. I don't think you can strap a car seat to the roof.

Here's a link to the article on the R&T web site.

And here's a pic or two:

It's suppose to be smaller than a Miata...wow

What a perfect road weapon against all comers. Before my wife got layed off and having a new born, I was on my way to saving up for the Caterham R500 that would've been in the 60k range with the Rover 250hp that I wanted. Now...at 39k (if the dealers don't scalp), I'll ask my wife to close her eyes and think of it as a SUV payment...except no comparison in my choice of "utility"

As for the mid-life crisis...I'm not goin down without having one of these.

Luv them dancn icons...
