hey guys.. im a new mini owner to an 09 mcs and i was just curious to when i should first get it serviced. would it be around the same miles as the one on the odo.. near/around 15,000???

and when do you guys do oil changes??

 

asking questions about oil chagnes is a touchy subject here.

The car tells you when it needs to be done somewhere between 15,000 and somewhere more than that depending on your driving. Well that is what MINI Recommends.

As for many of us we either pay to have it done more often or do it our selves more often

As for other service the car will tell you when it needs it. Things like brakes and other maintenance items are tracked by the computer system and the car then tells you when they need to be replaced.


MINI does have a one year maint. interval so that you should have done at about the one year mark.

 

Dealer service is when the countdown odometer says--can be anywhere from 15,000 to 22,000 depending on driving. If, like most people, you don't hit that mark within a year, there is a free oil change after a year.

Many of us believe that you should change the oil when the break-in period is over at 1,200 miles. Then again every 5,000-8,000 miles. Search on "DIY oil change" and you will find lots of info.
