R56 What is the current status of new MINI pricing? Are there any deals out there?

What is the typical discount on 2009 and 2010 MINIs? How much more will dealers discount cars that are on the lot versus special orders?
I had heard that most MINIs sold at full sticker a while back, but I wonder if that is still true with the current state of the economy. Have folks heard about any great deals at particular dealers?
Thanks!

general rule:
cars on lot = good discounts, depending on inventory, dealer density, and how much the car msrp's for--the higher the msrp, the more likely the higher the discount
ordered car = less chance for a discount. I mean, why should they??
IOW, when someone posts a claim that they got a $30K msrp dealer stock car with $1K to $1,500K discount below msrp, this is easy to believe; however, when someone claims they got the same amount off msrp with a $30K ordered car-- well, I dont believe them (unless it was a customer back-out or reject.)
good luck. some very low aprs on MINIs out there right now, that may be the ultimate money saver.

You will definitely pay MSRP on an 2010, especially while 2009s are sitting on the lots. You have your best chance at getting a deal on an off the lot 09'. If you are able to order an 09' at this point, you might be able to work down about $500 under MSRP if you are a good negotiator. If you take you time, play the game, and buy off the lot you might be able to get between $1000 to $1500 off MSRP.
There are no blanket statements to be made here, different dealers are responding to market conditions and inventory levels as they see fit.
Locally in KC an acqaintence ordered a 2010 Cooper S last weekend, they gave him over $1000 discount on a lightly optioned car.
They sold an in stock 2009 Cooper S to a friend the same day right off the showroom floor for about $1500 off........
I ordered my 2009 Clubman S in January - again lightly optioned - sticker was $27,850 and I bought it for $26,500 .......
My advice, if you want a ""deal" find a dealer with a lot of cars on the ground and buy one out of stock - the more option packages the more discount is available, I've seen heavily optioined JCW cars offered for as much as $3k off sticker.
To me, the best deal is getting the car I want, color , equipment, etc. That small discount would not make or break the deal for me..........

I went to the dealer twice and ask for a discount on an ordered mcs, they said no twice.
Then I email the dealer (internet sale manager) first asking $500 off to order my MCS.
They called me back and agreed over the phone before I went down there to sign. It could be a 2010 MCS, but I got one of the last spot for 2009 MCS because I want the LSD.
So, you could still get discount on a 2010 MCS on an ordered car.
You just have to do it right. You lose some negoiation power if you are in the show room physically... i think..
