TPMS on 07' MCS

Been meaning to ask this for awhile now............

I went to non RF's recently and with the new wheels/tires I installed Discount Tire included a TPMS rebuild kit. The installer did not use them and when I asked about them he said the sensors are in the ABS system and not the valve stems.

I always thought that in the 07's and newer it was a valve stem based sensor.

Am I losing my mind?

Earlier 07s used ABS sensors. The change to valve stem sensors was around the August 07 builds.

I assume you bought a set of tires and rims (with TMPS sensors) already mounted and balanced. The installer just put them on the car. If you have TPMS, all you have to do is to reset it and it should work. Otherwise the tire pressure low light would be on.

What is the build date of your car? Also, it's not a convertible, right?

My August build 07 hatchback has the valve stem sensors. What's the build date on your car?

Mines a 1/07 build so it makes sense that this is ABS based.

Indicator has not gone off and not knowing the intracacies of the technology not sure what that meant

As always, thanks guys!
