Buying used Mini

Hello
I'm shopping around to get used Mini.
On the indicator, i noticed few minis had ! (exclamation) mark on it.
What does this mean? I don' have the manual so i can't check for the sign.
Does anyone know which site is better for VIN check ? Carproof or Carfax?
Could anyone check carfax for me?
Thank you ^^

Drive it for more then a mile

Don't just drive a used car around the block. Go for a real world drive. Check for any musty smells and if you can you should take it to a mini or BMW dealer for a check-up even if you have to pay a few dollars to have it done. I can't tell you what the ! is but it could be the computer needs to be reset or something. Push in the turn signal stalk and it should change to something else. A dealer will tell you on inspection before you buy the car.

That indicator means that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System has detected that one of the tires may be running on a lower pressure then the rest. It could be that the owner had a tire go flat, had it fixed and they never reset the light. Or that a tire is slowly leaking. Or that a runflat is completely flat (kinda hard to see unless you are looking for it.)

If its just a big "!" in the tach, that just means the door's open with the key in the ignition.

The flat tire monitor has a cross section of a tire surrounding the "!". (Round sides and flat bottom.)
