17" Tire Question

Friends - can I put on 215/50/17's on an MCS with 17" web spoke rims? I just got the car, and the run-flats + 17's are really harsh on NYC roads.

Many thanks

I did a search and it seems like there are many folks running 215/45/17's Non-RFT's...hoping to find someone who has tried 215/50's

Thanks

There is a lot of discussion in this topic in the Tires, Wheels, and Brakes forum here. However, 215/50-17 tires typically have an O.D. of 25.5" which is a full inch larger than the stock tires on a MINI. So, probably better to go with 215/45-17.

I use 215/40/17 - close enough to the diameter of the original tires and slightly wider. Lots of choices for these - I have just put on my first set of Nitto NeoGen ZR from DiscountTire - excellent handling for $93 including shipping.

@OP, I believe Mike at Aesthetic Creations was trying out the 215/50/17 or 205/50/17, you might send him a PM.

I would worry about rub and speedo being way off.
