ECU upgrade through OBDII port...?

AFAIK, all the ECU upgrades available currently for the R56 are piggy-back chips... is there anything that can be installed through the OBDII port, like the shark injector?

It seems so much simpler than trying to try to cross up ECU wires to attach a piggy-back chip... Also, if you could save the original programming on something that plugs into the OBDII port, instead of having to pull out the piggy-back chip before every trip to the dealer, you could just simply reset the ECU to stock... Why has no one gone this route, what am I missing?

I see it...? I don't see it saying anywhere that's it's an OBDII plug in? I also don't see it being for sale... no offense to anyone, but I've seen a lot of vendors promise a lot of things here and show the cars they've tuned, but never actually offer something everyone can buy.

Correct, yet somehow the majority of the herd seems to bow down and worship every single one of these that pops up....

Yet still no way to get user level access, just another canned one shot approach.

Maybe someday

we are tuning them through the OBDII port, we will soon have the tool to be able to send you the maps through the internet

we have a stand alone ecu that will work with this car, but it's expensive

Helix offers a tune..

that isn't a piggy-back, but it's not an OBD-II version either. If I remember, it's a GIAC based product and I haven't talked to Erik in a while...

Anyway, the number of options is starting to grow, but much slower than most would like...

Could you do me a favor and clear up what the stand alone is vs. the flash tool? Thanks, newbie question I know, but I figure I ask the magacian himself.

stand alone, it's like a motec etc where you have full programmable capabilites

flash tool that we will send out will only allow you to read your ecu and write back to it with the files we send to you

I wish someone would post something about getting flash ecu tunes. I haven't looked in the last 3 weeks but I know no one has

on a more serious note - the chips is actually more convenient for dealer visits than visiting a shop for a re-flash. That would be the only advantage though.
