Time to turn '06 Mini, where's my new one?????

OK, with much reservation, but with a small glimmer of happiness in not having to deal with the annoying CVT much longer on my delightful LY Mini, I gave my local Mini dealer my deposit and specs and ordered a 2009 Clubman on March 19th. I thought I was all set.

Flash forward five weeks now, I got one piece of promotional material in the mail with a floor stencil and a note from Mini saying "Rumor has it a new Mini is headed your way" and that's been it. When I call the dealership and ask to speak to my MA, I consistently get "he's with a customer", or "he's over at the BMW part of the dealership", general BS runaround. E-mails have gone unanswered as well. My LY is scheduled to be turned in on May 6th, so I've got two weeks to go before I have NO CAR. I read the sticky about turnaround time in "First Gear" and now feel really nervous since I've not hit any of those milestones.

Is it time for me to go above here and call Mini customer service? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

Zoe

Have you read the bit about tracking your MINI in first gear? You should be looking on the lounge to find out what's happening, or obsessively calling 866-ASK-MINI. Then there's all the fun you can have trying to track ships.

Yes, you're right...start tracking that baby. You can find out where is it and calling the MINI hotline is the best place to start. Don't think twice...do it!!! Your friends, family, and co-workers will thank you.

I have heard of folks at my local dealership being provided temporary loaners if they find themselves sans transport due to a big delay from the projected delivery date, but this doesn't happen at every dealership.

Well...

next time you call the dealer, don't take "He's busy" for an answer... Let them know you're not getting called back, and have them find a body that can get you some information. This isn't a good sign about how they will deal with you once the car is delivered either. Being busy is one thing, but not taking care of your customer is inexcusable.....

No reason to get upset, just call the dealer and ask to speak to the MINI sales manager, then lay out your concerns about whether your new car will be there in time and whether they might give you a loaner if it's not?

The other thing you might be able to do is pay an extra month's payment and keep your '06 a little longer till your new one's in. I don't know if your lease company will do this, but most do.......
