Small trick to get alot of power - NOT!

Dont do it!!!!! Its not worth your hassle in the first place. Labor alone isnt quick, and then when you put everything back together , youll drive around , and all of the sudden , a check engine light comes on , and back to stage one, turning the "nuts". Leave it alone. Luckily i have the access to a computer that reads and erases codes, you , however, are on your own ( dealer in worst case scenario ). Anyway, as per a member on this board, that said" By turning the nuts 2-3 times clockwise ( tightening it ) youll increase the boost". False. First off , i was sceptical about that , so i went defensively with that idea, and just did 1.5 turn. Driving on local roads , beating on the mini, it was ok, but when i went out on the highway , and used higher gears , well, that wasnt so good. I went into the overboost mode, and ofcourse ECU cut most of the power until i cleared the code....So to summerize tonights adventure, wait for proper software, not all gains are free( if any ) lol.....

Now for another story .....read in the Dyno run topic.....

I beileve you didn't read my post throughly. I said I tightened the nut one turn just to be on the safe side.

Anyway, in my opinion it's a worthless mod. Why would you want to do this on a stock car and then try to return the nut to the original position when your moded, it's just plain silly , not to mention it already gives trouble from step one.

I agree with MiniPolack.. Thanks for going out and trying this myth and putting it to rest.. At the very best doing this possibly just creates boost spikes.. Which is never good..

yeah to be honest this seemed like it was an area I didn't want to mess w/ on my car. Thanks for being the guinea pig, ...seems like a bad idea to start twisting nuts, removing pipes, etc... without some serious controlled testing environment and understanding of the Mini engine. Most ECU "upgrades" make me apprehensive as well, ...until one comes out that every user on these boards swears by i'll probably save my $$ on that mod.
