Dupli-color vinyl interior

Has anyone tried this? I remember reading about someone who had used this in their interior or something similar to paint some interior pieces

instead of paying the 1g+$ for the rooster red package, this may be a much cheaper alternative... just wondering how the pieces would feel afterwards..., in terms of feeling like a painted layer instead of a soft vinyl fabric material (a few dash pieces and the door handle inside).. the interior color packages offered from MINI pieces...

seems like a good idea, but will probably take a ton of work just to cover the rest of the pieces from overspray. Im also interested in the texture. I know plasti-dip has a rough, plasticy feel too it (duh i guess), but idk about this dupli-color. Be an interesting project.

a while back i did my old mini's interior. used plastic undercoat and just normal satin black spray on the vinyl roof liner. worked great and doesn't feel much different from what it was. Dupli-color products are good and i think i wil work great, but i would test it first if i were you.

Good luck and keep us up to date, think some people might be interested in changing color or maybe adding some.

I tried the dark gray, it has a duller finish than the factory vinyl paint.

I didn't like it.

Go to an automotive paint shop, they can mix a vinyl color for you. It will look much better.

I wouldnt have used the vinyl paint.I would have used their regular paint and prepped the plastic with an adhesion promoter and flexible primer and then paint

Agreed, I tried this on my 99 Eclipse Spyder and even with a LOT of pre-prep using a degreaser, bulldog adhesion promoter, and primer the paint still looked too glossy and it did not stand up to much abuse - If I had to do it again I would take it to a paint shop and have them match it.

I don't know, you already bought a nice car for the $$$, you get what you pay for. I understand money being the issue, but you get what you pay for. Don't cheap out on something you love so much. my .02
