Does anyone know what it takes EXACTLY to put R56 brakes on R53?
I have a BRAND NEW set of R56 brakes that i got from a new car that wanted R56 JCW retrofit.
needless to say i have read the threads that state the R53 JCW brakes ARE the R56 brakes but i was wondering what modifications i may have to make if any in order to install these? I have everything calipers, brackets, pads, rotors, etc. i just was wondering how daunting of a task this is or is it just like doing a brake job with new parts? i havent had a chance to get everything together and compare.
a step by step would be amazing. thanks guys.

i did that 2 weeks ago

the only thing you need are the brakes and a new set of brake lines.
the connection for the brake line on the r56 caliper is a little different from the r53 calipers, hence the new/different brake lines
pretty straigt forward
( at least the brake install... but while i was at it i figured i should increase the air flow to the brake... that was a bit more work then i originally imagined since i had to remove the wheel hub
to install the air channel plate )

Very straight-foreward
One caution: if you look around, you will find threads of woe from folks that let the lines drain and get air in them while working on the brakes. Get air into ABS/DSC system and you are likely looking at having it towed to the dealer
. So, before you take off the old lines, wedge length of wood between brake pedal and seat base. Holding the brake pedal down 1-2 inches is all that's required to block the port in the master cylinder, so that the metal lines don't drain and get significant air bubbles in the high-tech stuff during the change-over.
