Anyone with any recent purchasing stories? I am likely to need to buy at relatively short notice (i.e. I won't be able to wait 4 months for a special order). Do many dealers now have a decent selection in stock, or is there pretty good availbility by shoopping between dealers?

Just for interest I think I like the sound of:

MCS, Liquid Yellow, Black roof and bonnet stripes. Sport Package, HK audio, Cruise/MCS, Aux Guages, Aux input, On board computer.

Items I'm dithering over are the seats, I've had leather in my last 5 cars (including my current BMW330Ci conv which I have to sell for fiscal reasons), but the forum seems to lean towards the space cloth. Also considering the premium package to get the sunroof (mixed reviews here). Finally not sure on Driving lamps, totally unnessary with Xenons (which are unreal on the bimmer, and so I'm sure are equally good on the mini), but really add a nice styling touch.

Anyway enough rambling, any thoughts on availability?

Depends on where you live. In SoCal the overall availability still stinks. But some East Coast dealers have 03s and will sell them at MSRP. Check out Mini of the Hamptons. They list their inventory online. Better yet, go to MINIUSA, check out the listing of dealers (start close to home) and most have links to the dealer's website. Again, many have their inventory online.
