Taking apart a shifter ****

ok i got ahold of a factory JCW shift **** with the red pattern....what i am trying to do is remove the black face piece with the red pattern and replace the black plate with white pattern a wood shifter ****....does anyone know how the silver ring comes off and the black plate comes out? or have pictures of removing all of that? we dont wanna start tearing into the **** and end up breaking something, so that's why I am turning to NAM for help.

You can pry the silver cap part off the leather ****, carefully using a flathead, but be careful or you will mess up the leather if you care. However, that's as far you'll get. Inspecting that piece carefully, it looked to me that it was all one molded piece. I'm 98% sure.

do you have pictures of that? without the silver ring? I dont care about messing up the leather, because what we are trying to do is just remove the black center piece, and then put it into a woodgrain shifter **** that is out of the MINI factory that currently has the plate with the white pattern.....but if it's all one piece then that poses a problem..
