There is a Drive-in Movie Theater quietly located in the northwest part of Houston in Hockley, TX that many of you probably didn’t know even exists!

The Showboat Drive-in Theater is located on FM2920.

They show current release movies on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays! The gates open at 5:30 and with the first show usually starting at 7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and on Sundays at dark or shortly thereafter! They have a play ground area for children prior to the movie start time, and a pretty good concession stand with a good variety of food selections, even cappuccino and hot chocolate!

They only accept cash! They do have an ATM machine in the concession stand. The screens are 40’ X 80’ and there is always a double feature, so come for the first movie and stay for the second! Adults at $5 ($5 bucks for two movies!), children are $4 and kids 2 and under are free.

Weather in this time of year can be a mixed bag, could be bone chilling cold, or we could be running around in shorts, one never knows what the weather may turn out to be down in the parts!

If there is no overwhelming objection, we will be parking / watching the“Back Movie Screen” playing Bedtime Stories followed by Yes Man.

Please be sure when you approach the gate that you purchase ticket(s) for the “Back Movie Screen”!

For those that live on the Clear Lake / Friendswood side of town, it’s about 45 to 50 minutes to get back home after the movie. The drive-in is situated about 5 minutes from Hwy 290. There is a caravan from the South Side leaving Starbucks at Monroe and Hwy 45 at 4:45 PM on Saturday, January 10th to drive up to the Drive In. We plan to depart on time.
