I am driving now a 2009 R56 S hardtop automatic loaner

Very, very nice car

This one only has 400 miles. Astro Black/white roof, leatherette, 16" S-winders, Piano dash, MFSW, automatic with paddles, that's pretty much it.

It does ride somewhat firmer than my 2008 Clubman S auto, so I suspect this car has the upgraded sports suspension.

Build date on it is 10/2008. One HUGE caveat though.... MINI changed the shape of the front seat headrests and now they stick out even more....My neck is SORE Your head is now forced to be in a "forward position" very akward. My workaround is to recline the seatback some more and I don't like doing that.

I guess they want to improve whiplash protection but these front headrests are AWEFUL. I'll take my '08 Clubman S and '05 MCS hardtop headrests anyday of the week

Neat car otherwise. But I want my 2005 R53 S back!

ClubmanS the firmer ride in the '09 Mini Cooper S might be due to your '08 Clubman S has a longer wheelbase which offers a better ride.

Plus that was the first thing I noticed when I got my '09 MCSa replacement for my prior '08 MCSa that the headrests do stick out further which took a bit to get use to.

so you're dismissing the entire 09 MCS line up because of the head rest. Ok! Gotcha!

Ive not even noticed the headrests, they seem fine to me and dont stick out. I think there's a way one can flip them around to make them more flush with the seat tho

I have an 08 justacooper loaner now and the headrests aren't different from my 09 S. what IS different is the justacooper's ambient lighting is MUCH brighter than in my 09.

It's probably done for improved whiplash protection. I got used to it.
