Moving TPMS to a different set of wheels

Is this difficult, can most tire shops do this?

Feedback from tire dealer

I've been wanting to know the same thing. First of all, if you have the direct TPMS (Beru sensors), you can have them remounted to another set of BMW/Mini wheels. Aftermarket is somewhat of a crapshoot. If you have runflat tires, you had better take it to someplace that knows what they are doing. The guy at the tire shop said it would cost me in the vacinity of $ 125, to remove the sensors out of my 16" bridgespokes, and put them in my R98 17" webspokes. Both wheels have runflats mounted. The tire dealer said they would have to be extra careful not to damage the sensor during removal and insertion. They recommend a repair kit. It costs anywhere from $ 6.95 to $ 12.95. New Beru sensors cost in the vacinity of $ 50. each from Tire Rack. The dealership price is around $ 80 each. Labor is extra.

Hmm... I spoke to a discount tire mgr and he said "piece of cake, we'll just swap them over (bridge spokes to aftermarket), we do it all the time". He also quoted me no additional labor to do so.

Apparently YMMV.

I'm still shopping around for the right price on this. It would be nice to find someone like you did.

They recommend a repair kit. It costs anywhere from $ 6.95 to $ 12.95.
Its also Beru's recomendation to use the replacment parts kit to guarantee the seal in the new wheels. $4.50 per sensor.

Our sensors are $42 and the value stem is $8 ea.

Let me know

Alex
