Copper_crush_washer

Hey,

Helped a friend perform her '09 MINI's first oil and filter change last weekend. When pulling the drain plug, no copper crush washer was found or accounted for; it wasn't stuck to the drain pan and not found on the drain plug either .
Thinking back, I never found one on my '08 MINI either. Of course, did install new crush washers on both vehicles.

Wondering how many didn't find copper washers on theirs!

Greg

If you look REAL close you would see that there is a crush washer on the plug or oil pan body. It looks like part of the body as it was crushed so perfect. How I know is that I thought the same thing when I changed my oil. I knewthat all drain plugs have a washer of some kind, solid copper or crush. I had great difficulty prying it off the pan. You may have two washers on there now. No biggie, it will seal just as well.
