Hufeisen Wheels for MINI

I want these wheels for my '06 MCS.

Unfortunately, they don't exist in a suitable configuration for a Mini. These are the Hufeisen, normally found as a wheel option on the VW GTi, some Jetta's and the odd Audi (usually aftermarket replicas).

I still want them. I'm almost resigned to never having them, but they are an ongoing obsession of sorts. Every time I see a set spinning past me on the road I have a certain longing for my own. Really think they'd look spiffy on a Mini.

If anyone knows of a way/means of finding, or designing/building the wheel (perhaps a group order?), please drop a reply to this thread.

Cheers!

there's only two routes to go with this one...
1). You can get the OE maker to distribute them in the MINI bolt pattern (4x100)

2). change the MINI hub itself to match the VW pattern (5x.... some oddball number)

I'll tell you right now, option #1 will NOT happen anytime soon because these are VW factory wheels as far as I know. I don't think VW will make a special set for a MINI. As for #2, I know the current GTI bolt pattern is a very.... uhhh.... "unique" size that very few (if any) other manufacturers use. That being said, you'll probably have better luck with a cheap knock-off, if they make them.

Those wheels are made by BBS, not by VW themselves.

Way more people use VW's size than the usual 4x100. Audi, VW, Mercedes, Bentley, Nissan, etc all use the same bolt pattern. They are 5x112.

With that said, there isn't much hope for fitting huf's on your MINI. It's the wrong bolt pattern to even use an adapter to adapt them to 4x100. So the only answer is to have some hubs machined to fit, but that will end up being A LOT of work and lots of money.

well then, I stand corrected.... 5x112 is very fairly common, it just doesn't fit a MINI

So the trick will be (as suspected) to find a reputable/quality manufacturer willing to build a replica in the 4X100 bolt pattern specifically suited to the Mini.

I have communicated with a wheel manufacturer in the US who is willing to do this with a minimum 5 set, pre-paid order.

Anybody else have any interest? If enough people are seriously interested, I am willing to work through this.

What size are you thinking? If you're looking into 17" you might want to post up on the VW forums for the older models which used to run 4x100. It would be cool for them to run the new VW wheel on the old model.

It might be easier to find 5 buyers that way.
