R53 factory Stereo Replacement
I have a 2003 cooper s with the factory stereo and a sirius stiletto hard wired into it. Are there any replacement units for the factory stereo that have am fm cd and sirius and can utilize the steering wheel controls for the radio? I have really gotten used to the steering wheel controls and would now hate to put a replacement in that doesn't utilize those controls.
There are adaptors for various aftermarket manufacturers; I get mine from MikeyTheMINI / www.newministuff.com

Go to your local stereo shop, they'll know how to install it. Most decks have all the wires for controls, etc. Alpine are particularly good with European cars. My deck has all the wires for controls etc, and it was only $200 or so. It's also got an expansion port for sat/iPod/bluetooth/etc. I did install it myself though it does require some electronics knowledge and some good tools eg crimpers/soldering iron and a pair of good wire strippers. Also order the adapter for the stock harness and your life will be much easier. They threw it in for free for me on sonicelectronix.com as well as the trim plate...
