which 17" tires

We have a 06 S and decided to go with new wheels and tires in 17". We first had 205/50 and they rubbed in hard corners, switched to 205/45 and they work fine. Here is the issue, I want all season tires that also combine performance. Went with Goodyear f1"s and after two tries they still can't get them balanced correctly. What would be the best tire for me on 17 x 7.5 rims?

What are the road force #'s?

What are the wheel run-out specs?

I got the Bridgestone Potenza 960AS in 215/45/17 (from Alex) and have been very pleased with them so far on my JCW 17x7 rims. I had a local shop RoadForce balance them and they have absolutely no vibration at any speed I've run them (up to 90 or so).

If you have not done so, I would take them to a Hunter GSP9700 road force balancing machine. If you need to find a local one to you, just log onto www.gsp9700.com and put in your zip code. The website will do the rest.

Hi all,

I have a simmilar problem now. We don't realy have snow but i would like to know if it is possible for me to fit 215/40/17" to optional 17" wheel from 2004?

here they are cheaper than the stock size but i don't want to fit them if they are going to rub or look stupid.

Thanks.

It will fit, its short so it will make your wheel gap look bigger, and your gear ratio will be better in 1st!

I have Nitto NeoGen 215/40/17 on Enkei RS+M rims. http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Eneogen So far they have about 18k on them and still have at least 3-5k left. I've used them for several autocrosses and find them almost impossible to break loose - wet or dry -unless you just want to. By way of comparison, I purchased a set of Falken Azenis to go on the stock 16" rims specifically for autox because everyone raved about them. I was very disappointed. They break loose everytime I come out of a corner hard on the gas and slide all over the place on tight turns.

The NeoGens have way better grip if that's what you're into, and the sidewalls are specifically made for lowered cars. I can't wait to try the INVOs at 225/45/17. http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Einvo Check out my gallery to see pics.
