Hi all,

I got a Cooper 12 months ago. At the time there was a lengthy wait for an S from any of the dealers and the prices they were charging could make your eyes water.

12 months on the dealers are a lot more eager to do business at a reasonable price on the S. The value of my cooper has held up very well.

Now I am thinking that I would like to trade in and get an S. I have really enjoyed owning the cooper but I am looking for a little more punch and I find the noise that the S makes is just majic.

Who out there has traded up for an S after owning a Cooper? How would you compare the long-term driving experience? My drives of the S have been short and flat out in nature, but how does it compare as a daily drive?

Insurance cost for me will not increase as I pay a flat rate no matter what I own through a deal my company has with an insurer. The one question I have is longer term fuel consumption. How much is it likely to increase?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

actually i have driven a mc and mcs both extensivley, though i currently own a mcs

i am very happy with my mcs, however in city driving and every day driving i feel the mc is perfect. the mcs is not really necessary. if you just want a bit more punch, you can hop up your mc. ask dandp, he has a great mc.

if you raelly want a s..go for it..

you can always get an evo, for ur power hunger

anways thats my opinion

i plan on doing the exact same thing after 6600 miles and 6 months of ownership, but i wouldn't necessarily call it "an upgrade". it's just that i too want a little more punch. ontop of that, i plan on getting the works. almost, but not quite, 2x the hp. but i don't plan on racing. just to enjoy my daily drive that much more. plus i really think i'll appreciate the extra hp cause i drive 50+ miles everyday, i drive up long stretches of hills and inclines, and i only drive about 10-15 miles thru stop-and-go traffic. if primarily going thru the city in traffic, i would stay with my current cvt mc.

gas, i believe, would be comparable to my cvt, about mid-high 20's mpg. depends how much i gas it on starts and passings. insurance, i don't believe is too much higher.

as the arrival date comes closer, i would say that i am more and more appreciating my current mc. the little things. however, my mind is pretty much set on getting the s. and i can hardly wait!
