Change CVT Trans oil, dealer or indenpendence?

a 2002 mc with 57k miles.
my friend bought it used and should we change the cvt trans oil for safey?
go to dealer or indenpendence with redline products?

If you have a GOOD MINI dealer, that would be your best bet. A trustworthy MINI independent mechanic might be OK. This is not the same as a fluid change on an AMERICAN car with a torque converter.
Best to get the fluid changed so your friend will know the service has been done.

From what I have read changing the fluid is not a super easy DIY project. I had the fluid changed in my 32K mile '04 when I first got it in July. We have one of the best MINI dealer service centers in the US at Inskip (JMHO). They did a real nice job with all the service including the trans fluid change and this thing is shifting and running great. For my duty cycle I may have the fluid changed every 2 or 3 years (15K to 20K).
