Mini vs racoon

I was going west on the NY throughway going about 80mph around 3AM a while back, when a raccoon appeared and went right under my drivers side wheel.
It was big fella, he was really hustling, I didnt have a chance to do anything but hold on! not happy about killing the poor thing, but even less happy about the battle with the insurance company.

Ouch!

Over $2400 charged, including windshield washer tank and pump.

Cooper 1 Racoon 0 ::::same thing happened here in Az the other night. Felt real bad about running it over and even tried a minor swerve but won't run the risk of an accident just to save a dumb animal. No damage like yours though I guess they're a little smaller out here in the desert. Drove the same stretch of road in the morning and there it was next to the curb...didn't even know we had them in the middle of town..

One day during the last week of September I did some early morning motoring here in the upper Midwest, covering about 100 miles over two-lane highways. Over the span of that 90 minutes I counted no less than 23 instances of raccoon road kill. In one spot it looked like a truck had taken out four of them simultaneously. The carnage was amazing and unexpected.

I never did figure out why they had adopted the lemming mentality that previous night (using the warm road surface as a cozy spot for mating?). For a while there, they were actually a worse hazard to MINIs than the deer...

Happened to me tonight..going about 55-60..fat racoon ran right out on driver's side. Going tomorrow to get quote. It's not as bad as yours. The left hand side cap is gone..i'm worried about the inside. Anyone know of any parts related to this kind of accident that can cause problems done the road? How about any OEM replacement websites so when I get a quote I can search for the bumper pieces myself? Thank you!

Since last September when I got my new MINI the score is:

Me 0
Squirrels -2
chipmunks -1

Lots of stupid critters in the mountains. So far I haven't taken on the deer or bears yet.

That is nuts, the R56 bumper cover has segmented painted panels instead of being one solid piece. Is it even a bumper cover anymore?
