R50/53 Saw a Mini crashed on Friday
My son and I saw a badly crushed Mini near our home on Friday. I am hoping that someone knows the driver and can pass on any info as to their well being. The crash happened in Saratoga on Hwy 9 & Quito Rd in Northern California. The Mini was Red with A white top and white wheels. I know lots of the Mini's around here and but I don't know this driver. I was hoping that maybe GoSharks or one of the other NorCal'ers would know this person.
It must have been a high speed crash. The front of the Mini was crushed to the point that the driver side wheel was flat on the ground under the collapsed shock tower. The pick-up truck that was the second part of the crash was in a ditch 50' away with bad damage to the rear. The part that has me especially worried is that even though all of the air bags had deployed, there was still a nasty looking round impact mark on the windshield to the left of the steering wheel.
The crash made my son and I very sad. I am not sure when my Mini passed from the realm of inanimate object to an object of affection, but it was very hard to see another with the life crushed out of it. I can only hope that the Mini was able to give its life for its owner and that he or she was able to survive. I've not owned a car for a very long time and I seem to have forgotten how attached one can become to metal and vinyl. I hate to be trite and say that my Mini is more than a car, but when I think of the laughter and smiles and good times that driving this car has given me I must believe that it is more.
Be careful out there, drive safely and make sure that you and your Mini get back to hearth and home safely.
