25,719 miles and then...

Pretty good, I guess: My 06 Cooper made it 25,719 miles before it had a single issue and then it lost its thernostat housing. It's at the Mini dealer today and will be done shortly.

I am wondering if the replacement housing is a different/better part or will it, too, will go bye-bye at about 50K miles?

e36 BMWs used a water pump with a plastic impeller for a time but they always replaced it with a metal impeller unit when the plastic POS grenaded.

Any info on this would be great.

Thanks to all.

I talked to my SA about this as well when mine started leaking. According to her, MINI made some sort of change to the housing and once they fix it, it shouldn't happen again. She claims they've never had one come back after fixing it.

My 200th post...how time flies when you're having fun.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

That's the news I was hoping to hear.
