Full gas tank computer reading.

Hey guys. I noticed that the last two times I filled up my car my trip meter read that I had 275 miles left on the tank until next refill. The first few times I filled up it would tell me I had 325+ left on a full tank. I recently installed a CAI and had to take out the ECU and disconnect the battery. Could this be the cause? I just dont get it. As usual thanks in advance!

The miles to go is based on the previous 18 miles you've just driven, so it can vary a lot. So its telling you you've just been driving at 20mpg vs 23 mpg in the recent past. There's a lot of things which could cause that variation. I wouldn't expect it to have anything to do with disconnecting the ECU.

It's funny to watch that reading after getting off the track and driving back home at a sedate 60mph with the cruise control on.

Or the opposite case - cruising on the freeway for a while, then pulling off, gassing up the car and driving around town. I've had the "miles remaining" display drop from the low 400s to the low 200s in a half-hour.

It says this in your owners manual. Mine actually says that it is based on the previous 25 miles. So this just means you've been driving your car harder then usual after you mods. If you drive easier you can see 350+ city miles per tank like me...some others seem to do even better.

The 05 manual you can download says "20 miles / 30 km". I assume its a round number of km, so it'd be 18.6miles (30km).
