Hi all,

am very new to this site, need expertise on my recent driving issue

the problem occurs when slowing/stopping the car, suddenly the ABS and battery light both switch on. usually they just flash a few times and the car almost stalls. i may be able to rescue by giving a bit gas.

the worst time is the steering wheel become super heavy, cannot steer at all

i used to drive at slow speed but this is first time it happens.

anyone knows the problem pls ?

Your Mini is smart enough to cut electrical consumers off when current is limited. I bet your alternator is on it's way out and when it starts to fall off
it cuts the power steering motor back . The p/s motor is one of the biggest consumers on the electric system of a mini.

 

is it costly to replace/repair the alternator ?

 

would it be the power steering pump failure ?

 

dropped my car to garage last weekend....turn out it's the alternator starting to fail...quite costly to replace and i changed the M7 themostat also..nice car seems nice and sound

 

as i thought everything is fine, i drove out last night and same things happened........now am thinking is it just some problem with the sensors and ABS control...
